Yolanda Frontera D.D.S., M.D.S.

Dr. Yolanda Frontera was born and grew up in Newburgh, NY. She is the daughter of Italian immigrants and the oldest of three children. She attended Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY from 1982 - 1986 and following graduation she attended the University of Maryland Dental School from 1986 - 1990. After earning her DDS degree, Dr. Frontera completed a two year General Practice Residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. Dr Frontera then started her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1992. She was the first resident at UConn to design and complete a dual – certification program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Pathology. She completed her residency programs in 1997 with a Master of Dental Science Degree with Honors.


Dr. Frontera entered into private practice in Connecticut from 1997 - 1998. Dr Frontera then moved to Western Massachusetts and became a partner in a very busy and successful group practice for the next 8 years. In addition to her experience in private practice, Dr Frontera has been a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis at the University of Connecticut since 1999. She is the Course Director of two graduate level classes. She is active staff at John Dempsey Hospital at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Courtesy Staff at Hartford Hospital, Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA.


In the summer of 2007 Dr. Frontera made the decision to purchase a practice from two well known Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in West Hartford, CT who were retiring. Dr Frontera has renovated the new practice, West Hartford Maxillofacial Surgery, P.C., and purchased all new state of the art surgical equipment. She and her talented, well-trained staff are building yet another busy, successful practice. Since purchasing the practice Dr. Frontera has been voted in the "Top Dentist's" list of both Hartford Magazine and Connecticut Magazine for the past 5 years.

This summer Dr. Frontera has joined her good friends at Berkshire Facial Surgery (www.berkshirefacialsurgery.com) in Westfield, MA as an associate. Additionally she is working in her West Hartford practice with 2 other colleagues from Jaw Fixers (www.jawfixers.com). These collaborations have allowed for a more expanded scope of surgery to be performed.


Dr. Frontera lives in East Granby, CT with her partner of many years and their four cats. Dr Frontera has many interests outside of Oral Surgery. She enjoys reading, fighting for animal's rights, politics, traveling to her cottage in Maine, target shooting and is an avid fan of the Uconn Women’s Basketball team and the Connecticut Sun.
